Baby Sleep Safe - a safe sleeping space for more vulnerable babies under 6 months of age.

Hello! Welcome to the online home of Baby Sleep Safe.

Are you worried about cosleeping with your baby? Is Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) or accidental suffocation of concern?

There are many things that you can do to improve your baby's safety.

Babies are more vulnerable to accidental suffocation and / or sudden infant death if they are:
  • smoke exposed - especially in pregnancy
  • premature
  • low birth weight
  • formula fed
A weakened drive to breathe (arousal response) causes a higher chance of accidental suffocation for these babies. Suffocation risk increases when babies sleep in positions and places not designed for young babies such as adult beds, couches, propped on pillows, etc. Coroners promote banana boxes - midwives suggest using a drawer - to enable safety in these situations. It is the attributes of the space - and the baby’s placement in it - that create the safety.

Baby Sleep Safe can provide the Sleep Safe Space for your baby - while you provide the Safe Sleep Care - every time and place your baby sleeps through the vulnerable first six months.
